Architecture

The streetscape, the variety, the rhythm, heights and materials used throughout Farnham have provided a guide for the architecture for the regeneration. We also appreciate that there are more modern interventions that have happened over more recent history that impact on the character of the town. Buildings such as the university campus, the Lion and Lamb and the Maltings have helped Farnham evolve.

Other local buildings, such as Sainbury’s, Lidl, the Woolmead, and the industrial unit to the east of the site all present a challenge to make this development one that fits within the vernacular of Farnham. The variety of heights, materials, entrances, roofscapes and building frontages, have all been carefully considered in the planning of the East Street Regeneration.
